St. Stephen‘s Cathedral
Symbol and silent witness of history
Outside and inside of the cathedral
For centuries, St.Stephen‘s cathedral has towered above the city of Vienna. The dome is „the“ landmark of the city and its most-visited tourist attraction. If its walls could talk, what would they tell us?
On our walk inside and outside of the cathedral you will learn about the making of the building, its over 850 years history, about its architectural value and its political importance. You will get to know some of its secrets, symbols and legends.
You will discover what the cathedral‘s nickname is, what is hidden within the tower‘s sphere, what Mozart‘s relationship was with the parish of St.Stephen‘s and what curious objects can be detected along the church‘s facade. And lots more!
